Understanding Blepharoplasty in Melbourne, FL

Blepharoplasty, commonly called eyelid surgery, is a precise cosmetic procedure that corrects drooping upper eyelids and reduces puffy under-eye bags by removing excess fat, skin, and muscle. Castellon Plastic Surgery Center, led by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Mauricio J. Castellon, specializes in facial surgical procedures for patients in Melbourne, Brevard County, and Central Florida.

What is Blepharoplasty?

An eyelid lift rejuvenates the eyes by carefully removing small amounts of fat and loose skin from upper and lower eyelids. Many patients experience improved vision and reduced eye fatigue after the procedure, resulting in a more alert and refreshed appearance.

Ideal Candidates for Eyelid Surgery

Dr. Castellon recommends blepharoplasty for individuals who meet specific criteria:

  • Have noticeable bags under the eyes
  • Experience puffy upper eyelids
  • Have vision obstruction due to sagging upper eyelids
  • Are in good overall health
  • Have realistic expectations about surgical outcomes

Benefits of Blepharoplasty

Patients considering blepharoplasty in Melbourne can expect multiple aesthetic and functional advantages:

  • Improved peripheral vision
  • More youthful, rejuvenated eye appearance
  • Reduced eye strain
  • Enhanced self-confidence
  • Strategically placed incisions with minimal visible scarring

Combining Procedures

Blepharoplasty can be effectively combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures like facelifts, brow lifts, and dermal fillers. During your consultation, Dr. Castellon will discuss personalized treatment options that align with your aesthetic goals and facial structure.

Recovery and Results

Patients typically experience mild swelling and bruising during the initial recovery week. Most individuals return to work and light activities within 7-10 days. Full results become apparent within one to two months, with improvements lasting several years by delaying visible signs of aging around the eyes.

Cost Considerations

Blepharoplasty is typically considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by medical insurance. Castellon Plastic Surgery Center offers various payment options and financing through CareCredit® and LendingUSA.com.

Dr. Castellon and staff could not be more accommodating. The results are wonderful and he’s very cognizant of the patient’s wishes and tries to meet the patient’s needs and wants as much as possible. I have referred many patients to Dr. Castellon because as far as I’m concerned he’s the only one to go to. Stellar!!!

Please don't go to this place for any procedures! Please read the reviews before you pay for a consultation! I make an appointment and paid $100 consultation fee before I read the Google reviews. The next day , I called the office to cancel and asked for refund - it is 5 day before the consultation. I can't believe that they refused to refund!!!! The office employees are rude and unreasonable. I will give them no stars.

First, I’d like to say, Dr. Castellon is a kind person and this review is not about him personally. I went to him for a breast reduction and tummy tuck, because he takes insurance for the breast reduction. My first visit was in the fall of 2021, for a consultation. I was shown a dramatization of the tummy tuck procedure and Dr. C told me he could do the breast reduction and lift without the typical “anchor” scar which usually takes longer to heal. I agreed to the procedures being done at the same time. We ended up not being able to schedule until January 2022, which unfortunately started my insurance over for the year. It wasn’t long before I realized they had not submitted my surgery to my insurance for pre authorization. Also they had the incorrect amount owed by me. To his credit, Dr. C told me he would do my breast reduction for whatever I was quoted as the amount owed by my insurance. After an extremely stressful week, we finally got approval late morning on the day of my surgery. Recovery was brutal as expected, but I was excited to see the results. When the bandages and wraps were removed I was excited to see a flat belly and reduced breast size! However, I immediately noticed flaps of skin hanging over my incision I came to find out are called “dog ears” and can happen after a tummy tuck. I also noticed that the scarring was puckered on my right breast. I was told repeatedly at every post op visit that these anomalies will resolve themselves with time. And to continue wearing my compression garments. Well, I just had my 2.5 year post op visit, and not only are the dog ears and puckered scar still present, the dog ears appear worse. Well, now, Dr. C wants an additional $5000 to fix his plastic surgery job. He also offered an in office procedure for $2000, telling me he’s just charging what it would cost him with no profit on top, explaining to me the cost of the additional surgery or treatment. My opinion is, his expenses aren’t my concern. He should fix what’s not correct.

Had a breast implant removal and lift December of 2023. After cash $14,000 i expect nothing less than perfect. I have hypergranulation around the nipple area and large divets under the breast. After 1.5 years the staff keeps telling me "oh, it will go away and get better. All they want to do is take pictures. Just keep using the '$100' cream ". It has not gotten better and nobody has even reached out to me to resolve the problem. I will be seeking someone else for a revision in the near future.
