Understanding Revision Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a complex cosmetic surgery that occasionally requires refinement or correction. Scottsdale Plastic Surgeons recognizes that not all initial nose surgeries produce the desired results, and revision procedures can help patients achieve their aesthetic goals.

Why Revision Rhinoplasty is Necessary

Patients may seek revision rhinoplasty for various reasons, including:

  • Visible scarring
  • Nasal asymmetry or twisting
  • Structural deformities
  • Dropped nasal tip
  • Inadequate size reduction

Surgical Techniques

Full Rhinoplasty Revision

Secondary rhinoplasty is a challenging procedure that requires extensive surgical expertise. Surgeons typically use an open approach, separating skin from the underlying cartilage and bone framework. This technique allows for comprehensive reshaping and reconstruction of the nasal structure.

Touch-Up Rhinoplasty

Some patients may only require minor adjustments to their previous nose surgery. Touch-up procedures often involve slight cartilage modifications or scar tissue removal to refine the nasal appearance.

Surgical Considerations

Revision rhinoplasty is performed under monitored anesthesia care (MAC) sedation. The duration varies depending on the complexity of the required corrections. Patients can expect some bruising and swelling, with the ultimate goal of achieving a natural, non-surgical appearance.

Expertise in Revision Procedures

Scottsdale Plastic Surgeons' approach to revision rhinoplasty emphasizes precision and individualized treatment. The surgical team understands the increased complexity of secondary procedures, particularly when addressing previous surgical alterations.

Frequently Addressed Concerns

Revision rates for rhinoplasty typically range between 5-15%, with most patients seeking minor refinements. Cartilage grafting may be necessary to support and reshape the nasal structure, often using tissue from other body areas.

Over the phone ballpark number was 1,500 then in person it's 14,000. Get the number right I wasted gas and time to be informed and they try collecting 250 before a consultation

I had explant surgery with a mastopexy on the right breast two years ago with Dr. Tsujimura. The side I had the breast lift on looks awful. I've had two other plastic surgeons tell me that the muscle is pulling on the breast causing it to be one inch from the inframammary fold. They said I would need extensive reconstruction with expanders and even then they are not sure that would fix the issue. What is heartbreaking is that I had a mastectomy on my left side and now my healthy breast is deformed.

Choosing Dr. Holden to perform my rhinoplasty was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Dr. Holden and his entire staff are all very caring, patient, and pay attention to detail. From day one I was guided through the entire process, all of my questions were answered, and my worries were quickly put at ease. Dr. Holden understood my concerns and goals, and far exceeded my expectations. I am currently 7 weeks post op and I already love my results. I would highly recommend Dr. Holden to anyone!

When you have a previous surgery, fail…looking for help is by far the toughest position to be in. Who do you trust? Where do you go? Who is an actual surgeon? Please do your research. Your research means everything to you, and to your future. Thank you Dr. Holden for repairing the damage I lived with for so many years, and for restoring my faith in the future 💗
