Chemical Peel Overview

Chemical peels are specialized dermatological treatments designed to remove dead skin cells and promote new skin growth. Dr. Aston offers chemical peel treatments in multiple strengths tailored to individual patient needs and skin conditions. This procedure utilizes a liquid acid solution to gently exfoliate the top layer of skin, revealing a fresher, smoother complexion.

Types of Chemical Peels

Superficial/Light Peels

The mildest peel option targeting the upper skin layer, typically using diluted glycolic acid. Characterized by minimal downtime and slight redness, patients can expect:

  • Treatment duration of several minutes
  • Peeling period of 3-5 days
  • Ability to apply makeup after healing

Medium Depth Peels

These peels penetrate deeper into the skin, utilizing Trichloreacetic Acid (TCA) to address moderate to severe wrinkles and skin irregularities. Key characteristics include:

  • Controlled acid application
  • Approximately 10-day recovery period
  • Slight pink skin tone during healing

Deep Peels

The most aggressive chemical peel approach, typically using Phenol to treat severe skin wrinkling and facial irregularities. Important considerations include:

  • Extended recovery period up to 14 days
  • Deep pink skin coloration for several weeks
  • Excellent results with significant skin transformation

Treatment Considerations

Each chemical peel procedure follows similar application steps, with variations in acid solution, quantity, and duration. Patients must allow natural peeling and avoid sun exposure during the recovery period.

Patient Experience

Discomfort levels vary depending on the peel intensity. Light peels involve minimal stinging, while medium and deep peels may require mild pain management. Dr. Aston's expertise ensures a comfortable and professional treatment experience.

I was a patient of Dr Aston about 8 years ago and I’m shocked to see that he is still practicing. After the work he did, I had numbness on my right and left sides of my face, right along my jawline. I waited several months before calling him to ask if and when the numbness would go away. He said that he never had a patient say they were numb so many months after surgery and he acted like he doubted me. He kept saying, “Don't be the first one to have this problem,”, as though it were in my control. Nine years later, the numbness is still there and hasn’t lessened one iota. My assumption is that he must have cut through a nerve or two and didn’t want to admit it. He never asked me to come into the office so he could check, nor did he ever follow up to see if the numbness got better. You should not go to Dr Aston when there are so many thousands of good surgeons out there who won’t cut your nerves and leave you numb! I say run the other way as fast as you can.

I just had a facelift, and I am so sorry I didn’t do it sooner. This was easy and painless (just mild discomfort). I look so NATURAL! Dr. Aston put me at ease, as I was terrified (for no reason looking back now). I would do this again in a heartbeat. This man has drastically changed my life! He did my nose when I was younger too, taking me from what people described me as “hideous” before, to the complete opposite! I can’t say enough about how awesome and talented this man is. Dr. Aston is the world’s BEST!

Dr Aston did my nose when I was 15. The tip of my nose is still big. I was left with a very visible scar!! :( the scar looks terrible. I do not recommend. Although, him and his staff were very nice I’m not 100% happy with the results …

Had a rhinoplasty here a couple of years ago - I was getting Botox & filler at another office, but the RN I was seeing moved to Dallas so I figured the RN at the plastic surgeon office where I had a good experience 2 years ago would be good. It was bad - I’ve gotten it done multiple times now & this just was not good. She also messed up the filler on the bow of my lip, it’s not even at all. Great surgeon — but probably shouldn’t go for anything else the RN didn’t do a good job.
