Blepharoplasty: Eyelid Rejuvenation in Las Vegas, NV

Understanding Eyelid Surgery

The eyes are a pivotal facial feature that dramatically impacts overall appearance. As individuals age, the delicate eye area often shows the first signs of aging through drooping upper lids and puffy lower eyelid bags. These changes can make patients look tired, older, and less vibrant than they feel.

What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty, commonly known as an "eyelid lift", is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess fat, skin, and muscle from the upper or lower eyelids. This procedure can:

  • Correct vision-interfering eyelid conditions
  • Enhance self-image
  • Provide a more youthful, rested appearance

Procedure Details

The surgical process typically takes 1 to 3 hours and is performed on an outpatient basis using local or general anesthesia. Surgeons make inconspicuous incisions following the natural eye contours, carefully removing excess fat deposits and trimming loose skin and muscle.

Recovery and Expectations

Recovery involves minimal discomfort and predictable healing progression. Sutures are removed within 7-10 days, and patients can typically resume normal activities shortly thereafter. Swelling and bruising generally subside within two to three weeks.

Important Considerations

Blepharoplasty does not address:

  • Dark circles
  • Crow's feet
  • Eyebrow position
  • Overall eye symmetry

Medical and Cosmetic Applications

Some patients may qualify for insurance coverage if excessive upper eyelid skin interferes with peripheral vision. A specialized visual field examination can determine medical necessity. For cosmetic procedures, the typical cost for upper lid blepharoplasty is approximately $3,900, inclusive of surgeon's fee, anesthesia, and facility charges.

Patient Considerations

Patients with pre-existing ocular conditions like dry eyes, detached retina, or glaucoma can still undergo evaluation for potential eyelid surgery. Comprehensive pre-surgical screening ensures patient safety and optimal outcomes.

I went to Dr. Malitz for Clear Lens Exchange last month because I was tired of wearing glasses. I would highly recommend him as he was professional, friendly, informative, and extremely experienced with this type of surgery. I did a lot of research on different surgeons in the Las Vegas area and Dr. Malitz was the best choice hands down! I am super happy with my results. An hour after my procedure, I could watch my TV without my glasses for the first time in years!!! I can now read street signs while driving so the only glasses I now need are sunglasses which is fantastic!!! I am so grateful to Dr. Malitz and his staff for taking such great care of me! As an operating room nurse, I am highly impressed with him, his many years of experience, professionalism, bedside manner, and technique. If you are tired of wearing glasses whether it be read or see far away, Dr. Malitz should be your choice to correct it!!!!

When researching for a place to get a surgery, this place was one of the first ones on my list. I looked online and decided to call but the receptionist was very rude. Even hung up on me, is impatient, and after five seconds of not answering a question she went on to say, “Hello???” Overall, was bummed out by the horrible customer service because after several calls to finally get my question answered I felt like they didn’t want me there. So, I’m gonna go get my surgery somewhere else.

Front desk receptionists are incredibly rude. We were 5 minutes late and we had to wait an hour to be seen. This after one of them had to make a very snide remark.
