Understanding Neck Lift Surgery

The neck is particularly vulnerable to aging's effects, including decreased skin elasticity and fat migration. A neck lift procedure addresses visible signs of aging in the lower face and neck regions, helping patients achieve a more youthful and refined appearance.

What a Neck Lift Can Address

Neck lift surgery effectively treats multiple aesthetic concerns, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Horizontal neck bands
  • Double chin appearance
  • Sagging jowls
  • Loose, excess skin ("turkey wattle")

Ideal Candidates for Neck Lift Surgery

Suitable candidates for neck lift surgery typically include adults who:

  • Are bothered by sagging neck skin or horizontal neck bands
  • Experience visible facial aging signs
  • Maintain good overall mental and physical health
  • Have realistic surgical expectations
  • Have independently chosen to pursue the procedure

Neck Lift Procedural Details

The neck lift is an outpatient procedure performed under anesthesia. Dr. Magilke uses specialized surgical techniques to reposition underlying tissue, tighten muscles, and remove excess skin. Surgical incisions are strategically placed behind the ears to minimize visible scarring.

Surgical Approach

During the procedure, Dr. Magilke will:

  • Make precise incisions behind the ears
  • Reposition underlying neck tissue
  • Tighten neck muscles
  • Remove surplus skin
  • Re-drape skin for a smoother contour

Recovery and Results

Post-surgical recovery involves temporary bruising and tightness, which typically resolves within one to two weeks. Patients can expect a smoother, more youthful neck contour with results lasting approximately five to ten years.

Recovery Guidelines

  • Keep head elevated to minimize swelling
  • Take prescribed pain medication as directed
  • Avoid vigorous activities during healing
  • Attend follow-up appointments with Dr. Magilke

I am really pleased with all my cosmetic procedures preformed by Dr Magilke. I moved to California several years ago and I come back to just to see Dr. Magilke, because I’ve seen several of the best doctors in California, and they do not compare to Dr. Magilke. Everyone that I have recommended to go see him have been more than pleased with the results, his professionalism, kindness and care. I highly recommend. Dr. Magilke and great amazing team.

I was in an accident and had a scar and a bit of asymmetry on one side of my nose as a result. I went to Dr. Magilke wanting to fix that and he suggested a do a bit of lift for my nose profile too. I also sent him a photo of what nose I like. Unfortunately, i learned he is not a good surgeon. My nose looks even more asymmetrical now after the surgery. My bridge has a bump on one side now and I also have asymmetrical nostrils. After care was the worst, they acted like I am overreacting. When I told Magilke he made it sound like it was not a big deal as well. He was not hearing me at all. In fact, I don’t even think he cares what patient wants, he does what he wants and the fastest and easiest way. My advice don’t waste your money, he is not good at what he does. He has also done a filler in my lips and it also was asymmetrical.
