Arm Lift Portland by Sean McNally, MD, PhD

What is Arm Lift Surgery?

Arm lift surgery, medically known as brachioplasty, addresses loose skin from the elbow to the shoulder. This procedure is particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing skin laxity due to aging or significant weight loss. Dr. Sean McNally specializes in removing excess skin, often referred to as "bat wings", to create a more toned and contoured arm appearance.

Benefits of Arm Lift Procedure

  • Removes excess skin from significant weight loss or aging
  • Reduces friction and chafing between arm and chest
  • Enhances clothing comfort and personal confidence
  • Targets stubborn areas resistant to diet and exercise

Surgical Procedure Details

Arm lift surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. The surgical process involves carefully removing unwanted skin from the elbow to the underarm. Dr. McNally strategically places incisions in the most inconspicuous locations to minimize visible scarring.

Procedure Technique

In some cases, liposuction may be combined with skin excision to remove stubborn fatty deposits. After removing excess skin, the remaining tissue is pulled taut and meticulously sutured. Post-surgical care includes wearing compression garments and maintaining proper wound care.

Maintaining Surgical Results

To preserve arm lift results, patients are encouraged to maintain a stable weight through balanced nutrition and regular exercise. Once fully recovered, strength training can help further tone and define arm muscles, complementing the surgical outcome.

Scarring Considerations

While surgical incisions are inevitable, Dr. McNally employs advanced techniques to minimize scarring. Patients receive recommendations for topical treatments and are advised to limit sun exposure during the healing process to reduce potential discoloration.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr McNally or his staff. I had two procedures done and Dr Mcnally was amazing. The work he has done is stellar. I am so happy with the results. He has a great bedside manner and truly cares about his patients.

Dr McNally is one of one. Life changing results. He performed liposuction on my chin and back, and I could not be happier, I was overweight as a child, and as a result, I was left with stubborn pockets of fat and loose skin that could not be corrected with physical fitness or nutrition… Grateful for him as he helped me heal my inner child! You won’t regret choosing him as your surgeon and advocate!

I would not recommend sean mcnally for gender affirming care, especially if you are any bit overweight. The assisting staff consistently misgendered me, even while being rolled away to be operated on. Mcnally seemed rushed and uncaring every time we met, and consistently made many fat phobic comments probably due to the cosmetic nature of the office. He dwindled every single issue I had post top surgery down to me being over weight and having body acne. Without even feeling my scars at our 6mo post op appt., he told me the literal spitting stitches on my scar line were from acne and gave no solutions. After outsourcing care, I was told they are stitches my body is having a hard time dissolving. The left over tissue was supposedly because I didnt want lipo suction (a common sales tactic for cosmetic surgeons) when I have many friends much fatter (I am midsize) with amazing top surgery results lipo free from other surgeons. Sean Mcnally took zero accountabiility for anything and gave zero resolutions to my issues besides ones that would benefit his pockets. My chest is not smooth and not flat, if he could have predicted these results based on my body type why would he not disclose so. After seeing other doctors, I am affirmed that my left over tissue and rejecting stitches are legitimate concerns and aren't due to me being bigger or having body acne. The only redeeming factor of going to the Oregon Clinic is fast wait times and sweet office staff. I am about 8 months post op now and am overall unhappy and concerned with my results. I will be getting a revision from a doctor who actually cares about the trans community.
