Understanding Body Lift Surgery

A body lift, also known as a belt lipectomy, is a comprehensive surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin and reposition tissue to create aesthetically pleasing body contours. This procedure is particularly beneficial for patients who have experienced significant weight loss or have skin sagging due to aging.

Ideal Candidates for Body Lift

  • Individuals with significant skin laxity after massive weight loss
  • Patients with stable weight for several months
  • Those experiencing reduced skin elasticity
  • Individuals seeking improved body shape and skin smoothness

Surgical Procedure Details

Body lift surgery can take three to eight hours, depending on the extent of skin removal and reshaping. The procedure involves carefully excising excess skin, removing fat through liposuction or direct excision, and repositioning remaining tissue to create smoother, more contoured body lines.

Complementary Procedures

Patients may also consider additional body contouring procedures such as arm lifts or thigh lifts to address skin laxity in multiple areas. During the consultation, Dr. Humphrey will recommend the most appropriate approach for individual aesthetic goals.

Preparing for Body Lift Surgery

Pre-Surgical Requirements

  • Cease smoking one month before and after surgery
  • Stop blood thinners and vitamin E supplements two weeks prior to surgery
  • Obtain medical clearance from primary care physician
  • Discontinue herbal medications and diet pills

Recovery and Healing

Recovery from a body lift typically takes one to two months. Patients should plan for adequate downtime and follow all post-operative instructions provided by Dr. Humphrey to ensure optimal healing and results.

Cost and Financing

Body lift costs vary based on individual surgical needs. As a cosmetic procedure, it is not typically covered by insurance. Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery offers various payment options and can assist patients in exploring financing solutions.

I went to Dr. Humphrey for my breast augmentation and I absolutely made the right decision choosing him as my plastic surgeon. The work he has done is amazing and admirable. He was very professional and his staff is also wonderful. I had a great experience and would recommend this place to anyone.

Beware, this doctor is a bully and the most unprofessional “professional” I have ever met. I’m left with no implants and a $7k bill for being traumatized. I went in for a breast augmentation June of 2023. I noticed right away in the consultation that Dr. Humphrey had a terrible attitude and severely lacked decent bedside manner. I thought it wouldn’t really matter, considering I would only have to deal with him for one surgery. In 2021 I had a staph infection in my left breast and spent a few days in the hospital. From my understanding staph can remain in the body long after it heals initially. I was very concerned about infections and complications and made my voice about these things as clear as possible. He brushed me off and told me it would be fine. I accepted this as I trusted him as a medical doctor. I had my implants for 3 and half weeks. Two mornings after my final appointment, after I was cleared fully by his office, I woke up from healing perfectly, to a huge right breast. Something was very wrong. I went to see him the very next morning and he informed me there was an infection. Upon finding this out, I was very upset and cried a little, frustrated and scared, I’d just spent so much money and I’d done everything as best I could. In the office while under duress, Dr. Humphrey just stared at me blankly. When I asked him why this happened, all he could say was “it’s rare, but it happens.” There was no other explanation he ever gave me no matter how many times I asked why. I came in for emergency surgery the next morning. I was immensely scared of losing my implants as that was a real possibility if the infection was bad enough. It was one of the worst days of my life, and trust me. I’ve had some bad days. When I was back getting ready for surgery, the staff left me alone in a corner bed. There was no other patients back except for one guy still asleep under anesthesia. I wasn’t bawling and making a scene, but I did have my head in my hands and cried. I was frightened, alone, and upset. I saw one of the nurses walking towards me and I thought maybe she was bringing me some Kleenex, but instead she ripped the curtain around me to isolate me further without saying a single word. When I was put out I didn’t know if I’d wake up with them or not. I didn’t. Obviously this was the first question I asked as I became conscious, if I still had them. And the nurse chipped “Nope!” Professionalism? Have you heard of it? Care Credit, whom I used to finance, agreed to erase the balance. I am not going to pay for something I don’t have. He cares more about $6,300 than the wellbeing of his patients overall. When he found out Care Credit disputed his money, he called and left a several minute threatening voicemail. He himself, Dr. Humphrey took it upon himself to call once he found out his money was being disputed to tell me to stop the dispute process and I quote “or else.” Then proceeded to outright state that the infection was my fault entirely. First of all, prove that? Appalling. Their practice called for a week straight and left messages, not about me or my wellbeing, but about the Care Credit dispute. However, when I called and asked for my medical records to be released they refused. Your medical records are legally your medical records. Funny how they don’t want to release them, but claimed to have proof I caused my own infection? This has been one of the most horrific experiences of my life. He didn’t listen when I told him about my prior issues, I would have rather him told me not to do it at all. If you want to be treated as a human being who is paying an immense amount of money to this man - think again. All I have to show from him and for my money is trauma, harassing phone calls, noncompliance from his office staff and a bitter fight. Let’s not forget the lack of implants. From a traumatized patient to someone doing their own research right now, PLEASE click away. Heartland and Dr. Humphrey is a SHAMEFUL practice. I’ll see you in court Jeff. If you hate this google review, just remember you really earned it.

Claims to specialize in hands as well as plastic surgery. Callous, cold, unfriendly and uncaring. He pretended to examine my hands, for only a few seconds, then told me he 'couldn't help me' and sent me on my way. I waited a full hour after my appointment time for this treatment. I wouldn't choose him to remove a wart. I am in pain. I'm still in pain. With doctors like him, I can't expect health, or care. I completely understand. If there is not a very profitable procedure in it for him, he has far less interest in a patient. He is only interested in 'customers.' Thanks for giving clarity.
